KEVIN DOBSON MEMORIAL TIME TRIAL

Race Update

The canal and race course is currently frozen, but we are hopeful of a thaw by the weekend. However, there is a further cold front expected over night this Thursday, bringing with it the possibility of snow, wind and ice.
The forecast for Saturday is positive for the race going ahead, but due to the expected storm Thursday / Friday, a final decision on the racing will be taken on Friday evening, once a course inspection has taken place.
The final decision will be posted here on the club website and all entrants will be emailed the outcome, so please do monitor communications.

In memory of one of our founding members, Kevin Dobson.

Paddlers will race in C1, C2, K1 or K2 for 12 or 6 miles starting at either Pewsey or All Cannings and finishing at Devizes Wharf.

The KEVIN DOBSON MEMORIAL TROPHY will be awarded to the fastest C2 in the 12 mile race.

There will also be prizes awarded in each race for classes including C1, K1, K2 and junior.

Entry fee is £10 per seat (includes paddler refreshments).

  • RACE INFO:

    Race A: Pewsey Wharf to Devizes Wharf – 12 miles
    Race B: All Cannings to Devizes Wharf – 6 miles

  • RACE A:

    Starts from Pewsey Wharf. Parking available at St Francis School, SN9 5NT. Toilets will be accessible 8:30am-9:30am, but MUST NOT be used after 9.30am. There are public toilets located at North Street Car Park, near the Library.

  • RACE B:

    All Cannings Bridge No. 127
    There is limited parking near the Canal, SN10 3NU. There will be no toilets on site.

  • FINISH:

    Both races will finish at Devizes Wharf Bridge.
    Parking available in the Wharf Car Park, charges will apply.

  • DCC INFO:

    Refreshments and Changing facilities will be available at Devizes Canoe Club, Lower Wharf, Devizes, SN10 1JN. This is a 2 minute walk from the main Wharf. There is no parking at the Canoe Club.

  • CHECK IN:

    Check in will open at 8.30am at Pewsey or at All Cannings.
    All crews must check in before the start of the race to obtain their race number and attend the safety briefing.

  • STARTS:

    Race A – Pewsey to Devizes
    9.30am – 10am: Crews likely to take more than 2hrs 15mins to complete the race.
    10am – 10.30am: Crews likely to take less than 2hrs 15mins to complete the race.

    Race B – All Cannings to Devizes
    9.30am – 10am.

    Boats will be set off at 1 minute intervals.

  • BUOYANCY AIDS:

    Buoyancy aids are to be worn by paddlers in Div 7, 8, 9, GS or unranked. In the event of bad weather, it will become compulsory for Buoyancy aids to be worn by all juniors/all paddlers.

  • ALTERNATE DATE:
    If the canal is frozen the race will be run on Saturday 24th January 2026
