Terms and Conditions:

I agree that the club is not responsible for any loss of property on the premises whilst I am/ my child/ren are at any function organised by the club.
Upon acceptance into membership of Devizes Canoe Club I/we understand that canoeing can be a hazardous activity and is undertaken at my/our own risk. I/we shall promptly declare to the Club any medical condition or disability which may affect my/our ability to perform strenuous exercise and in this event shall seek medical advice as to whether canoeing is suitable for me/us.




Devizes Canoe Club (DCC) are committed to respecting your privacy. This notice explains how we may use personal information we collect before, during and after your membership with us. This notice applies to you if you have registered to become or are a member of our club.

How your information will be used

When you become a member, or renew your membership with DCC, you agree to the use of your personal data for administering your membership and for us contacting you with club notices relevant to your membership. We will only retain your data for as long as we need to administer your membership.

We are sometimes asked to provide data to external organisations about age, sex and ethnicity and we will anonymise all personal data before doing so. We will only retain your data for as long as we need to administer your membership and to deal with queries related to your period of membership for up to a year afterwards.

We may also enter events on your or your child’s behalf. We will only use personal data relevant for administering the event entry with the event organiser.

Sharing with British Canoeing

Devizes Canoe Club is affiliated to British Canoeing and we are obliged to share your personal details with British Canoeing if you are not already a British Canoeing member. As an ‘associate’ member of British Canoeing, you are insured for taking part in club activities and allow BC to properly administer the sports on a local, regional and national level. British Canoeing will provide you with access to an online portal to administer your details.

British Canoeing will contact you to invite you to sign into and update your record on the GoMembership portal. The portal will allow you to set and amend your privacy settings, and also to sign up to the member newsletter if desired. You can also request your account is deleted at any time.

Photographic and video imagery

The Club occasionally takes photos of or videos, its members. These will be used on the Club’s website, social media, local press, British Canoeing website etc. They are also used to generally promote the Club. If you are happy for images of you to be published, please check the box below.


Devizes Canoe Club want to send you communications not associated with your membership administration. This will include changes to club policy, notice of events including the AGM and updates relevant to the club. If you wish to receive communications from Devizes Canoe Club please click the box below. Please note that email is our primary means of communication, and we no longer use post to communicate with members. You may unsubscribe at any time.


Devizes Canoe Club requires members and parents of members to accept the club’s general code of conduct, junior paddler code of conduct, and junior parent code of conduct as a condition of club membership. The codes are published at https://devizescanoeclub.co.uk/club-documents/


Providing us with confidential medical data is your personal choice, but you (the paddler, parent, guardian or carer) must advise the responsible activity organiser, prior to participation in any club activity, of any condition including any critical medications you need that could affect your safe participation. [Note: This includes, but is not limited to, common conditions such as: asthma (and other respiratory conditions), thermoregulation concerns, cardiomyopathy, anxiety, and anaphylaxis.]

Any medical information provided will be kept confidential in hard copy only in a secure cabinet at the club. Hard copies of medical information may be shared with other paddle leaders supervising activity but will be destroyed when the activity is complete or, in the case of members, at the end of each membership year.
